Learn to kayak safely and comfortably as you navigate the protected ocean waters surrounding Cortes Island. Glide gently on the surface of the sea, passing miles of pristine coastline, all the while accompanied by wildlife, both high and low.
With kayaks and lunch loaded each morning, we will voyage out from Hollyhock on the 43-foot Misty Isles schooner, starting our adventures around Cortes Island and Desolation Sound anew. Along the way, we may be able to calm our pace, set the sails, and view a vast array of wildlife, such as eagles, seals, humpback whales, porpoises and dolphins. Aboard the comfortable mothership, we cruise past mountains that seem to shoot up out of the sea and historic sites.
Upon arrival at our day’s destination, we launch the kayaks and paddle off for an exploration of picturesque channels and islands. Enjoy the deep quiet of nature and the peace of your own thoughts as you paddle these serene, protected waters. Hungry from adventuring, we return to Hollyhock for a warm meal and a relaxing hot tub dip.
No experience required, kayaks, paddles and life vests are supplied. Limited to 12 participants.
This program will also be offered May 29 – June 3, 2020.
