Step away from the noise of daily life and into the quiet rhythms of the coast.

Between Tides is a nature-based kayaking and mindfulness “mini-retreat” designed for those seeking a balance of rest, reflection, and gentle adventure. Set in the wild beauty of coastal British Columbia, this five-day experience offers space to slow down, reconnect, and restore.

With just one guided session each day, this program is intentionally spacious. You’ll explore the land and waters of the island through guided kayak excursions, wander forest trails on guided walks, discover the rich life of the intertidal zone, and visit quiet, secluded beaches. Optional activities include morning movement (yoga or tai chi), taking a tour of Hollyhock’s renowned garden, and a seashore walk with our resident naturalist.

Paddling along the coastline, you’ll experience the stillness and movement of the ocean—an opportunity to connect more deeply with nature, yourself, and the group. Guided mindfulness while kayaking invites a deeper awareness of self in relationship with nature, softening the boundary between the two, and opening into a more integrated, connected experience. No prior kayaking experience is required.

Outside of our shared sessions, there is plenty of time to wander forest trails, rest by the water, enjoy the hot tubs and sauna, book a massage or bodywork session or simply be.

This retreat is ideal for those looking for a less structured retreat experience—one that blends outdoor adventure, mindfulness, and time to unplug.

No prior kayaking experience is required. Come as you are, and let the rhythm of the tide guide your days.
