Presence Psychotherapy is a Comprehensive trauma treatment model that integrates spirituality, work with parts of the mind, and relational attunement to process the many layers and nuances of trauma. Presence Psychotherapy, highlighted by US News & World Report for trauma healing and grief, is published in the APA Journal of Integrative Psychotherapy and the International Journal of Trauma Care.
Learning Objectives
Discover how the Four Dimensions of Presence can be utilized to:
- Resolve Fight, Flight, Freeze, Submit and Attach utilizing the 4 Dimensions of Presence.
- Heal trauma-induced negative beliefs such as “I’m not enough, I am bad. I’m not lovable. I’m not safe.”
- Help clients experience the essence of who they are as Presence that can be aware of their thoughts, feelings and trauma.
- Utilize Transcendent Presence to process trauma without spiritual bypass.
- Reduce anxiety and depression and increase well-being.
Through a specific Presence Orienting Process in session, clients can easily experience Presence that exists in and around us:
- Compassionate Presence
- Spacious Presence
- Transcendent Presence
- Grounded Presence
This highly supportive, experiential training for mental health professionals is rooted in evidence-based practice and helps clients orient to Four Dimensions of Presence to sense compassion in and around them, experience oneness, and sense the essence of who they are beyond their trauma.
Skills in this training are taught first through didactic presentations, followed by live demonstrations. Participants can then practice the skill in small groups with an experienced and supportive trainer. In the small groups each participant will have the opportunity to be a therapist, client and observer. A willingness to understand and heal our own wounds is required. Experiential learning helps participants learn skills to advance their clinical effectiveness.
Presence Psychotherapy was developed by trauma expert Michelle Lepak LCSW, whose work has been published in multiple academic journals.
