Embody a state of easeful strength, relaxed openness, and resilience. Learn fundamental yoga, pilates, and somatic techniques to reset from stress-states, rejuvenate your being, and find centre amidst any challenge.

“Loretta is a gifted facilitator whose knowledge of movement and passion for well-being is illuminated by contagious enthusiasm! Their classes are uplifting and unique with just the right amount of toughness and challenge.” – Megan V., Class Participant

Your body tells a story about your life. Stress patterns held in our physical bodies reinforce feelings of exhaustion/burn-out, anxiety, powerlessness, and fear. In other words, as life pulls you “off centre,” the body follows. Following a year of isolation and uncertainty, our nervous systems (including the body, heart, and mind) are likely to be habituated towards a chronic stress state. Luckily, when we re-attune to our body’s naturally aligned and fluid state, with an awareness of our larger social context, the mental and emotional self can follow.

Find this centred state—physically, mentally, and emotionally—and discover more ease in your life. Reclaim your “power within” with a gentle balance of relaxation, deep inner strength, dynamic adaptability, and open awareness. Give your body the gift of attention, and gain peace of mind through time spent in the spacious natural landscape of Cortes Island.

“Loretta’s gentle guiding voice, presence, and practice foster a stalwart vessel in which we explore the shapes and embodiment of the teachings of Yoga. Along with insightful explanations of how the poses affect our physiology and thus our mental and emotional states, Loretta intermixes life wisdom and self-care into our practice. Sewn together with inspiring music and adorned with readings of poetry, each class is a work of art through which we realise our own uniqueness.”- David L., Class Participant

Topics covered include:

  • Learn Pilates fundamentals to support healthy posture, efficient movement, and core strength/endurance.
  • Deepen your understanding of Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga, activating your spine, opening your heart, and integrating greater adaptability and fluidity.
  • Explore Yin/Restorative Yoga & Somatic Release Techniques to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (relaxing aspect) and unwind body tension and stress.
  • Gain an awareness of stress-response patterns (fight, flight, freeze, fawn/friend), how they might be affecting your body at this time, and what to do about it.
  • Experience a sense of community connection, support, and inspiration through facilitated group activities.

“Loretta is a wonderful teacher who skillfully draws on a wide knowledge base. The Pilates course helped me learn to access my body in new ways that support me in many areas of life, including my other body-based practices.” – Daniel M., Class Participant
